What is the Integrated Japanese Language Program?
The the Integrated Japanese Language Program is a Japanese language education program offered by the International Center Research and Education for Japan Studies for all international students enrolled at Kanazawa University.
The Comprehensive Japanese Language Program aims to develop the Japanese language skills necessary for research, study, and daily life at the university. In addition to acquiring the Japanese language skills necessary for daily university life, university lectures and seminars, and research, students will deepen their understanding of Japanese society and culture through Japanese language study.
Eligible students
Kanazawa University The program is open to international students who are registered students in Japan, whose native language is not Japanese, and who meet one of the following criteria.
(1) Regular students (school students, graduate students)
(2) Special auditing students and non-degree students affiliated with a department
- Japanese Language Training Course Students
- Japanese Language and Culture Study Course Students
-Kanazawa University Exchange Students KUEP (Science, Engineering and Medicine Faculty of Health Sciences ?Human Sociology)
- Other students in the Inter-University Exchange Program
However, if there is room in the class capacity, we will accept people other than those listed above in the following order of priority.
(4) Research students
(5) Foreign Visiting Researchers at Kanazawa University
(6) Foreign faculty members enrolled at Kanazawa University
(7) Others who are specifically approved by the coordinator of the Comprehensive Japanese Language Program.
Curriculum
There are Japanese language classes, Kanji/Vocabulary classes, and skill-specific classes, which can be taken according to the learner's Japanese level and learning objectives.
Comprehensive Class... consists of 6 levels from beginner to advanced level of Japanese. Students will study Japanese comprehensively.
Kanji/Vocabulary Class... This class is designed for students who are proficient in Kanji characters and learn how to read and write Kanji characters and use Kanji vocabulary.
Proficiency-based classes...There are classes at each level that focus on each language skill: speaking, listening, writing, reading, and communicating.
Classes
How to take the classes
Classes for the Japanese language program begin in early April and early October. Prospective students will take an orientation and placement test online before the start of the term, and then select a class at a level determined by the results of the orientation and test.
Orientation & Placement Test
When you enroll in the Comprehensive Japanese Language Program for the first time, you must take the Orientation and Placement Test at the beginning of each semester. Please refer to the Comprehensive Japanese Language Program website to register for the orientation and placement test.
Registration Period
There are four registration periods per year. However, since most of the classes in the program are consecutive in Q1 and Q2, and Q3 and Q4, only Q1 and Q3 are open for new registration.
First Quarter (Q1): Late March to early April
Second Quarter (Q2): Early to mid June
Third Quarter (Q3): Late September to early October
Fourth Quarter (Q4): Early to mid-December
