On March 1, the graduation ceremony for Noto Satoyama Satoumi SDGs Meister Program students of 2024 was held at Kanazawa University Noto Gakuya, where Kanazawa University President Takashi Wada presented certificates to 21 graduates.
Based at the Noto Gakusha, this program, with the cooperation of partner municipalities such as Suzu City, aims to develop leaders who will tackle regional issues by utilizing the resources of "Noto Satoyama Satoumi," a designated Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System. To date, 262 students, including those who graduate in 2024, garduated the Meisters program.
At the ceremony, President Wada gave a speech, followed by a congratulatory address from Suzu City Mayor Izumiya Masuhiro. Next, on behalf of the guests, Trustee Imai Makoto from the NPO Noto Satoyama Satoumi Meister Network, an organization of Meister graduates, gave a congratulatory address. The representative of the graduates made a pledge saying: "Each of us has a strong desire to restore Noto, and has worked with the desire to rebuild the region together with Satoyama Satoumi. We will use what we have learned to bring back Oku-Noto, a place we can be proud of around the world." All the graduates renewed their resolve.
After the ceremony, a social gathering and a reception were held with the graduates, guests, and university officials. The graduates introduced their research projects, and there was an active exchange of opinions with the guests about the future of the Meister Program.
