Volunteer Saport Station an extracurricular activity group of Kanazawa University (hereinafter referred to as "Bolasapo") participated in various events held in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
On April 29, Borasapo students and Lecturer Kaisei Harada from the Faculty of Economics and Management, Institute of Human and Social Sciences, and Advisor of Borasapo, together with students and faculty members of Toyo University, participated as volunteer staff in the "Juzo Shrine Spring Okashi Festival" held at Juzo Shrine in Wajima city.
At the event site, they provided operational support by setting up and cleaning up, serving customers at the event booths, and so on. The event was a great success, with the booths mainly selling sweets, bread, coffee, and other items from the Noto area, as well as songs by children attending kindergartens in Wajima City and taiko drum performances by local groups.
On May 11, Borasapo students participated in the rice planting volunteer activity in Shiroyone Senmaida, Wajima City, and worked hard together with about 100 general volunteers. On the same day, the "2nd Utsuwa-no-Chikara" was held at Juzo Shrine, with the participation of Lecturer Harada and Kanazawa University Administrative Staff. "Utsuwa-no-Chikara" is an activity to donate free of charge vessels, cutlery, and other items donated by craft artists and potters from all over Japan for people living in the disaster-stricken areas. This was the second time for them to participate in this event, following last year. They were engaged in setting up, transporting, displaying, and serving customers.
Through each support activity, students, faculty, and staff interacted with local residents. Kanazawa University will continue to provide support activities in the future.
